Everything SendURL Does: A Tour of Every Feature
A map of every SendURL feature, from slugs and QR codes to expiry, passwords, projects and the REST API, with a full guide for each one.
SendURL is a URL shortener with click analytics. You paste a long URL, get a short one on snu.to, share it, and see the time, country, device, browser and referrer of every click. This post is the map: one section per feature, what it does in a sentence or two, and the guide that covers it properly.
One thing first, because it shapes everything below: every feature in this post is available on every plan, Free included. The plans differ in how many links a workspace can hold and in the analytics history each lists, not in what those links can do.
Short links and slugs
Every short link is snu.to/ followed by a slug. Leave the slug to SendURL and you get a random one made of letters and digits. Type your own and it can be 1 to 32 letters, digits, hyphens or underscores, as long as nobody else has it yet. Slugs are case-sensitive and fixed once the link exists. Guide: SendURL slug rules. For naming patterns that work in campaigns, see how to name short links.
Shorten without an account
The box on the SendURL home page makes a tracked short link with no sign-up. You get a live click counter that refreshes every 10 seconds and a QR code, and when you create an account from that same box, the link and its clicks move into it. Guide: Shorten a link now, keep it when you sign up
Click analytics
Each click records the visitor's country, device, browser, operating system, referrer, IP address, user agent and time, plus whether it came from a QR code. You can open any single click to see all of it. Guide: What SendURL records for every click
The Analytics page charts clicks over the last hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, for one link or all of them together. Guide: Clicks over time. How to set up tracking for a campaign, one link per placement, is in how to track link clicks, and the product page is link analytics.
QR codes
Every link has a QR code, with nothing to switch on. Download it as a PNG or an SVG and print it. Scans are counted as clicks and marked as QR scans, so scans can be told apart from taps on the link. The product page is QR codes, and the wider how-to is how to track QR code scans.
Expiry and visit limits
Give a link an expiry date and it stops redirecting at that moment: visitors see a "Link expired" page and no click is counted. Separately, each link has a visit capacity that comes from your plan. Guide: Expiring links
Password protection
Add a password and visitors must type it before they are sent on. Wrong guesses are rate limited per visitor, and only visitors who get through are counted as clicks. Guide: Password protect a link
Disable and enable
Switch a link off and it answers with a "Link not found" page until you switch it back on. Its slug, QR code and click history are kept. Guide: Disable a short link without deleting it
Change a destination
Through the API you can point an existing short link at a new URL; the console has no edit form for it. The slug, QR code and clicks stay as they are, which is what makes printed codes safe to use. Guide: Change where a short link points
Workspaces and projects
Your account comes with a workspace and a Default project. Add projects to keep campaigns, clients or channels apart, and switch between them in the sidebar. Guide: Workspaces and projects
REST API
Most of the above is also available from code: create, list, update and delete links, read clicks and daily counts, and list or create projects, with API keys scoped to the whole workspace or to one project. Guide: Free URL shortener API. Reference: API docs
UTM parameters
The console has no UTM fields, but UTMs work with any link: add them to the long URL before you shorten it, and every click arrives with them. The free UTM tagging tool on this site tags a URL, checks which GA4 channel it lands in, and shortens it. UTM parameters explains which ones GA4 reads, and social media link tracking shows how to combine them with one short link per post.
Plans
- Free: $0, up to 100 links per workspace, lists 7 days of analytics history, every feature above
- Pro: $5 a month, up to 1,000 links per workspace, lists 30 days of analytics history, the same features; set up by email at support@sendurl.to, not self-serve checkout
The link limit counts every link in the workspace, across all its projects. Each link also has a visit capacity, which is 100,000 visits per link on Free.
What SendURL doesn't do
We'd rather you find out here than after signing up. SendURL has no custom or branded domains: every link is on snu.to. There are no team seats or shared workspaces, so a workspace belongs to one person. There is no CSV export, though the API gives you every click. Location stops at the country, and SendURL does not record cities. Clicks are counted as they come, with no bot filtering and no unique-click count, so link previews in chat apps show up too. The console's QR codes are plain dark-on-white, with no logo or color options. There is no bulk import, and UTM tagging happens in the separate web tool, not in the console.
If one of those is a deal-breaker, that's fair. If not, the quickest way to see what SendURL does is to make a link on the home page and watch the counter.
