Custom domains
for your short links
Put your links on your own domain, like go.yourbrand.com/launch, or on a name of your own on snu.to, like yourbrand.snu.to/launch. Every plan, Free included, gets one of each.
Your domain in three steps
DNS changes can take up to an hour to be seen. The console checks again whenever you press Verify.
Add your domain
In the console, open Domains, choose Add your domain and type the name your links should use, like go.yourbrand.com.
Create two DNS records
At your DNS provider, add a CNAME record pointing your domain to snu.to, and a TXT record with the value the console shows you. The TXT record proves the domain is yours.
Verify
Press Verify in the console. Once both records are found and the HTTPS certificate is issued, the domain turns active and your links work at go.yourbrand.com/your-slug.
The two records
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
| CNAME | go.yourbrand.com | snu.to |
| TXT | _sendurl.go.yourbrand.com | sendurl-verify=… (the console shows yours) |
If your DNS is on Cloudflare, set the CNAME to DNS only (grey cloud). Only the workspace's owners and admins see the TXT value.
Or a name on snu.to
No DNS to set up: claim yourbrand.snu.to in the console and it works at once, with HTTPS. Your links then read yourbrand.snu.to/launch.
Once a link has used a name, no other workspace can ever take it, even after you remove it, so a printed QR code never opens someone else's link. A few names, like www, api and support, are reserved.
How many, on each plan
| Plan | Custom domains | Subdomains on snu.to |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | 1 |
| Pro | 3 | 3 |
| Premium | 5 | 5 |
| Team | 10 | 10 |
| Enterprise | 25 | 25 |
Each type is counted on its own, and a domain you remove no longer counts. If we can't add your domain right away, support@sendurl.to sets it up. Compare every plan.
Custom domains: questions, answered
Can I use my root domain, like yourbrand.com?
Yes, if your DNS provider can point the root at another name: CNAME flattening or an ALIAS record, which Cloudflare and many other providers offer. Route 53's ALIAS records can't point at a name outside AWS, so there use a subdomain such as go.yourbrand.com. A subdomain is the simpler choice with any provider.
My DNS is on Cloudflare. Anything to watch?
Set the CNAME record to DNS only (the grey cloud), not proxied. A proxied record to snu.to goes through your own Cloudflare zone first, and the domain may not connect.
Is HTTPS included?
Yes. Once the CNAME record is in place, a certificate is issued for your domain and renewed for you, at no cost. Links on your domain open over https://.
What happens if I remove a domain?
Its links stop opening, and so do their QR codes. The links stay in your list with their clicks and still count toward your plan's link limit. Adding the same domain again later doesn't bring the old links back.
Can I move an existing link to my domain?
No. A link's domain is set when you create it and never changes, because printed QR codes carry the domain and the slug. Create a new link on your domain instead. A slug is unique per domain, so go.yourbrand.com/launch and snu.to/launch can be two different links.
Do links on my domain have analytics and QR codes?
Yes. They work like every SendURL link: each click is logged with its country, city, device, browser and referrer, and every link has a QR code that opens it on your domain.
